All About Annie! Kid's Krafternoon with Melynda!

We've joined forces with Film Streams at the Ruth Sokolof Theater to bring you and your child a fun filled afternoon all about Annie!

Project: Silver Stamped Heart Necklaces
Ages: 6+
Cost: $50 includes: child's lunch; child's craft class; 1 adult move ticket to Annie; and 1 child movie ticket to Annie.

Details: Children will learn to work with the medium of silver stamping while creating their very own personalized heart pendant necklace in a workshop lead by Melynda Walsh. A lunch of pizza, fruit, and juice will be provided to all children participating. Adults are free to leave their children and shop at True Blue and grab an afternoon refreshment at nearby Trap Room. After the workshop, parents will rejoin their children for an inclusive (1 adult and 1 child ticket included) screening of Annie next door at Film Streams, a Ruth Sokolof Theater.  

About True Blue: True Blue Goods & Gifts is a gift and art boutique with a focus on local designers and makers. Our workshop services for both children and adults foster creativity and community involvement.

About Melynda: Melynda Walsh has taught art workshops and classes for a variety of Omaha non-profits and schools. As co-founder of the Octopuses Garden Art Alliance, she has partnered with the Joslyn Art Museum, Ollie Webb Center, Gifford Park Community Garden, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Earth Day Omaha, and the VSP Club. She has worked creatively with elementary and junior high students throughout Omaha Public Schools and Millard Schools for more than 10 years. She has taught such classes as children's yoga, shadow puppetry, storytelling, printmaking, sculpture, and painting. For the past 8 years, Melynda has advocated for and taught individuals with disabilities in the Omaha community. When not juggling her two youngsters, or getting her oldest ready for college, she has taken a recent interest in silversmithing and stone setting.  

About Film Streams: Film Streams a Ruth Sokolof Theater is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the cultural environment of the Omaha-Council Bluffs area through the presentation and discussion of film as an art form. Annie is screening at Film Streams as a part of their Forever Young Family & Children Series.
