Please join us for the opening reception of BALANCE featuring new woven wall art by Omaha artist Sarah Parys of East Parlor.
The show will remain on display through November.
Sarah was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She has degrees in Studio Art from U.N.O and Interior Design from Metro Community College. She has been creative all of her life and has worked in many mediums including paint, pencil, paper, clay, fabric, and most recently fiber and yarn. Sarah has been selling on Etsy for the past 5 years and has sold work all around the world. Her most recent endeavor has been a new shop entitled East Parlor. Sarah endeavored to create new pieces that took on a more modern look for today's home, this new direction in her work includes her woven wall hangings. She started creating woven pieces earlier this year and has now begun to create new designs and learned how to incorporate different fibers and materials that have progressed ever since. Working on these weavings has been both meditative and addictive in a way. Many times Sarah has a vision that she attempts to sketch out. Other times she starts with a color scheme and works from there. Either way, nothing is permanent. Sarah has reworked, rewoven, and taken apart many pieces. That is what she loves about the medium. You can always change things and start over.
Most recently Sarah's work has been featured on the DIY Networks's Blog Cabin. She was chosen as 1 of 50 artists (1 from each state) to be represented in a viewer designed cabin that will be given away.
